Well peeps, sorry it’s been a bit sporadic from me lately… I’ve been super tired…
Tuesday we had our second art class which was also loads of fun! Really loving seeing these kids get excited about art! Boy were they boisterous this week! But in a good way! I love a bit of lively enthusiasm!
We started with a little discussion about Matisse and how his art transformed… amazing how many artists started out on a whole other career path before heading into the artistic world!
Been trying to do the handouts in “style” of the artist… could be interesting if we do a sculptor next!
After we’d talked about the artist I got them outside with chalk doing a group activity… making a giant Matisse! Did we need to do the shapes or background first? They did a great job and worked together so well, experimenting with wet and dry chalk!
Next we talked about “drawing with scissors”. Much hilarity was had as they cut out different random shapes and imagined them to be different things! I asked them to pick only four colours for this activity so we had enough for the main project. One girl managed to get left overs from other kids to add to her colour array! Ingenious! So much laughter, so much fun!
A lot of concentration went into the final product… maybe giving them icecream for afternoon tea wasn’t the best plan, but they really got into it! Again, all so completely different! We laminated them into placemats which worked well!
All in all another fun afternoon!
